Caribbean dumplings are different from other dumplings. They are made differently throughout the Caribbean, so this recipe isn’t the most traditional one. This recipe originates from the island of St-Maarten/St-Martin. They use flour, cornmeal, butter, a little bit of sugar, salt and water.
Near the end of the cooking time, add the dumplings. Without dumplings your soup will be boring.

Ingredients
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup Warm water
- 1 tbsp Granulated sugar
- 2 tsp Butter at room temperature
- 1/2 tsp Salt
Instructions
- Add the flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar to a bowl and mix together.
- Mix in the butter.
- Gradually incorporate the water. Be careful not to add too much water.
- Take the dough and roll it in the palms of your hands.Roll the dough into a long oval shape or round balls.
- Add to your soup.
