The Caribbean is a beautiful, paradisiac place. You are constantly surrounded by beautiful beaches, fresh seafood and the sun. However, 2020 brought a lot of challenges, such as COVID-19 which stopped a lot of people from visiting the Caribbean. Now the Caribbean allowed visitors to come to the islands. So in this post we will look at traveling to the Caribbean during a pandemic.

What’s the current situation?

With 2020 being a pretty hectic year, many of us are looking for an escape on a tropical island. Thankfully many Caribbean islands have opened up their borders. However, that doesn’t mean that everything is back to “normal”.

The virus is very much still present in the Caribbean. There are reports of active cases, with some people being hospitalized. That is the harsh reality that many West Indians are facing today. Although there are active cases on the islands, some governments were able to get things at a manageable level to allow tourist to visit.

Can you travel to the Caribbean?

Yes, traveling to the Caribbean during a pandemic is still possible. But there is many restrictions.

Obviously, you just can’t get on a plane and come to the Caribbean. You have to be prepared for the travel. Many islands demand a test, which has to be done 72 or 48 hours before your scheduled flight. If you do test positive, you must cancel your flight because you will not be accepted on the Caribbean soil.

Each island has their own requirements, so it is best to research what those requirements are. Be careful when booking your tickets, because you may or may not get a refund for your flight if you cannot make it.

Make to sure to pack your negative test in your carry-on. DO NOT FORGET IT.
