Jerk Marinade Recipe

An easy homemade jerk marinade recipe will definitely have you not wanting to buy the store-brought kind anymore.

Being away from home means I miss out on a lot of good, delicious and flavourful things such as ginger beer, fritters and even a nice homemade jerk marinade.

I’m not Jamaican but I believe I came pretty close in this recipe. Even though I have never been to Jamaica neither, I have had some good jerk chicken and being away from it forced me to learn how to make it.

Jerk marinade recipe

What I love most about this recipe is the ease level and the versatility of it.

But one thing I must tell you guys about… is the spiciness. This marinade is definitely very spicy and I love every bit of it. So if extra spicy is not your thing then you need to skip this marinade and pick up the supermarket kind. They tend to be less spicy in my opinion.

What makes this marinade real spicy is the scotch bonnet pepper.

Scotch bonnet peppers are not mild at all. They are fairly hot and when using them I highly recommend using gloves. But this is the key ingredient to this marinade, without the peppers you won’t have a decent jerk marinade.

This marinade can be used various ways, the most traditional way to use it is in a grilled chicken. I made Jerk Chicken Taco with them and Jerk Pork Burgers also.
