How To Make Caribbean Browning Sauce

Servings 1 cup
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Warm water
  • Pinch of salt (only if you are using this recipe for a savory dish)

Instructions

  • Add brown sugar to a small sauce pan.
  • Once the pot starts to get warm, the sugar will start to dissolve.
  • Using a wooden spoon, mix the sugar that is being melted. This will allow everything to cook evenly and not get burn.
  • When the sugar liquifies, gradually stir in the water.
  • Remove it from the heat, let it cool before stirring in the salt (if using).

Notes

    • Let the sugar dissolve and turn into a liquid before adding the water.
    • Allow the sugar to cook a little if you want a dark color.
    • Use a non-stick pan.
